A FAMILY AFFAIR
A seat for the study, patio, and foyer. The Leefa chair, was designed and prototyped in Copenhagen, DK during the summer of 2008. During the winter of 2009, an outdoor version was designed out of High Density PolyEthelene, and aluminum that incorporated a similar back detail. In the spring of the same year, the Oona bench was designed and built, incorporating successful element of both "parent" pieces. This design includes a single extended powder coated aluminum leg which serves as a coat rack, and subtle design element. Available here.
LEEFA
This chair was designed and built in Copenhagen at the Danish Design Skol in the summer of 2008. Drawing inspiration from automotive leaf springs, the chair forms to the back of the user. Leefa is made with birds eye maple and treated with a soap finish, and utitlizes nautral rubber for the seating surface.
CHRISTOPHER
This chair is modeled off of the leefa chair but is intended for outdoor use. HDPE was selected for the back due to it's similar behavior to the more complex maple back inherent in it's mate. And Aluminum was used due to it's lightness and strength. Other factors that influenced the material choice were recyclability, and price.
OONA
Blending traits from the Leefa and Christopher chairs, the Oona bench adds a level of playfulness with it's quirky coat rack. Oona juxtaposes synthetic materials present in the Chrisopher chair, with the soap treated wood used in the Leefa chair. The Oona bench also packs flat and is easily assembled with supplied screws and stainless steel dowel.
